When you’re enjoying a Jetmaster home fireplace, you’re dealing with some of the safest fireplace models on the market which are guaranteed to operate with minimal delay and hassles for many years to come. Jetmaster wood-burning fireplaces also burn cleanly and efficiently with minimum of emissions and comply with the Australian Standards for Wood Heater Emissions (AS/NZS 4013).
Many people assume that because modern slow combustion fireplaces have eliminated the problem of sparking embers because they are glass-fronted units that a screen for the fire is not required, but there are also other types of wood-burning fireplaces, such as open wood fireplaces, where the burning wood is not behind a glass door. Here at Jetmaster we always recommend a screen with any open wood fireplace, because wood will naturally spark, so a screen is necessary to prevent any embers leaving the fireplace.
It’s important to remember that a fireplace is extremely hot and that there are still certain safety hazards you could end up facing. Remember that a fireplace glass door might prevent direct contact with the fireplace’s flames, but its primary purpose is to retain heat and increase efficiency – it does not primarily exist to protect your fireplace from outside influences. Although you do not require a screen in conjunction with a slow combustion fireplace, some people will choose to place a freestanding screen in front of the fire to prevent children or animals from getting too close to the fire. At Jetmaster we have screens that sit on the face of a Jetmaster firebox, available in all sizes.
By preventing toddlers, dogs and cats from being able to get close to your fireplace you greatly reduce the chance of burn injuries. It’s easy to forget that the sides of a freestanding fireplace can generate an incredible amount of heat, and how curious kids and pets can be. Yes, this might only occur in the rarest of circumstances, but isn’t it better to be safe than sorry?
